A Wizzair commercial plane took off from Lviv on Tuesday

A Wizzair commercial aircraft, which had been stationed in Lviv since the start of the war, took off on Tuesday from the Lviv airport in Katowice.

This is reported by CNN with reference to the aircraft tracking service Flightradar24.

“We can confirm that the A320 HA-LWS flew from Lviv to Katowice yesterday,” Jan Petchenik, director of communications at Flightradar24, told CNN. The plane took off at about 11 a.m. ET Tuesday, according to Flightradar24.

The exact time of the plane’s departure is not known, as it turned on its transponder only after passing the border with Poland, “probably for security reasons,” Petchenik said.

Although the Airbus A320 is registered with Wizz Air, Petchenik could not confirm if the carrier is operating it.

CNN reached out to Wizz Air for comment but received no immediate response.

Petchenik also said that Wizz Air still has three aircraft on the ground in the Ukrainian capital with Hungarian registrations.

Reminder:

Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said that it would take several weeks to reopen airports in Ukraine, with the main issue being security. The first airport considering the ministry to resume work is Lviv Airport
