Borrell called Kulebi on the phone: they discussed the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and assistance to Ukraine

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on Monday held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

According to Evropeyskaya Pravda, Borrell and Kuleba reported this on Twitter.

“I discussed with Dmitry Kuleba the encouraging progress of Ukraine’s counter-offensive to restore its territorial integrity. EU support will continue uninterruptedly, our strategy is working: to help Ukraine fight back, put pressure on Russia with sanctions and support partners around the world,” the head of the EU foreign service said.

“Josep Borrell called me to express his admiration and respect for the defense forces of Ukraine, which are liberating new territories from Russian occupation. He spoke about further ways of EU assistance to Ukraine and the approach of peace. I asked for weapons, sanctions, financial assistance,” said in turn the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Recall that in recent days, Ukrainian forces launched a counteroffensive not only in Kherson, but also in Kharkiv region. Against this background, some Western politicians called for increased military assistance to Ukraine.

Earlier, White House spokeswoman Karine-Jean Pierre said that Ukraine was waging a fierce struggle to liberate the territories, and condemned Russia’s missile strikes on energy infrastructure.
