Erdogan later announced that he intended to phone Putin on September 29. The Turkish leader intends to discuss the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, he previously expressed optimism about the negotiations.
In addition, Erdogan added that he expects to discuss with his Russian counterpart the export of agricultural products through a safe corridor in the Black Sea. He acknowledged Putin’s concern that grain is not being delivered to countries in need, and expressed readiness to work on this problem.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that telephone conversations between the Turkish and Russian leaders were not planned in the near future.
On September 26, Erdogan noted that he considers it his goal to hold talks between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine in the near future.
On the same day, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Putin, in a conversation with Erdogan, noted the possibility of resuming negotiations with the Ukrainian side. In addition, Cavusoglu added that it is becoming more and more difficult to resume negotiations every day.
