Huanqiu shibao: U.S. imperialist policy led to conflict in Ukraine

Yang Guangbin, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations at Renmin University of China, in an article for Huanqiu Shibao, said that the United States was too carried away by the policy of expansionism and imperialism pursued with the help of NATO. This is what caused the conflict in Ukraine. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

In his opinion, the States, “playing war games”, are increasingly turning a blind eye to their own expansionist policy. At the same time, US military hegemony never ceased.

Yang Guangbin argues that Washington first disturbed the order in the Greater Middle East. The United States did this with the help of the war in Iraq and further support for the civil war in Syria, and now they have taken up tensions in relations between the Russian Federation and China.

In his opinion, Washington applied to Moscow the same containment strategy as during the Cold War, and also tried to put pressure on and contribute to domestic political upheavals.

“This is the immediate background of the Ukrainian conflict,” Yang Guangbin believes.

He added that the conflict in Ukraine shows that the primitive nature of Western civilization has not changed, and imperialism is still a source of world upheaval.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian posted on Twitter an excerpt from a speech by retired US Army General Wesley Clark about the Pentagon’s military plans in the early 2000s.
