In Berlin, a school project was launched with the opportunity to study simultaneously in German and Ukrainian

A school project “German-Ukrainian School” has been launched in Berlin, within the framework of which children will have the opportunity to study in both languages ​​and in the future receive certificates of general secondary education from both countries.

This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Germany, writes “European Truth”.

The opening took place on October 19. The preparatory phase of the project – for the academic year 2022-2023 – covers two classes at the Aziz-Nesin elementary school in Friedrichsgain-Kreuzberg and four classes at the Helena-Lange school in Steglitz-Zehlendorf. The full project will begin in the next academic year, and during the current preparatory phase, testing and planning of Ukrainian educational content will continue, which will be necessary to prepare for the Ukrainian certification.

According to Senator for Education, Youth and Family Astrid-Sabine Busse, this project was created for children, for the sake of mutual understanding between peoples and as a sign of great solidarity with Ukraine.

For his part, Minister Counselor of the Ukrainian Embassy Maxim Yemelyanov thanked for the efforts of the German side, in particular the Senate of Berlin, and expressed the hope that this pilot project would soon spread to other German lands.

According to the latest data, about 180,000 Ukrainian children who ended up abroad because of the war are currently studying in Germany. Also, about 2,700 teachers and assistants work in German schools – Ukrainian teachers, who also went abroad with the outbreak of the war.
