The opening took place on October 19. The preparatory phase of the project – for the academic year 2022-2023 – covers two classes at the Aziz-Nesin elementary school in Friedrichsgain-Kreuzberg and four classes at the Helena-Lange school in Steglitz-Zehlendorf. The full project will begin in the next academic year, and during the current preparatory phase, testing and planning of Ukrainian educational content will continue, which will be necessary to prepare for the Ukrainian certification.

According to Senator for Education, Youth and Family Astrid-Sabine Busse, this project was created for children, for the sake of mutual understanding between peoples and as a sign of great solidarity with Ukraine.

For his part, Minister Counselor of the Ukrainian Embassy Maxim Yemelyanov thanked for the efforts of the German side, in particular the Senate of Berlin, and expressed the hope that this pilot project would soon spread to other German lands.
