Despite the fact that Mokhnatkin did not manage to knock out his opponent, the judges unanimously awarded him the victory.
Earlier in the tournament, boxer Shulsky defeated pop-MMA fighter Bruce Khlebnikov by technical knockout.
Prior to that, boxer Alexei Tishchenko defeated former WBA world champion Venezuelan Nehomar Sermeno on points.
On Friday, Islam Karimov commented on the upcoming fight, noting that he considers it an honor to meet Mikhail Mokhnatkin in the ring.
The day before, promoter Vladimir Khryunov commented on the replacement of Shtyrkov by MMA fighter Karimov in the fight with Mokhnatkin. According to him, the athletes could not agree on the weight, “Ivan weighs less than 100 kg, and his opponent – 107-108 kg.”
