France plans to start training Ukrainian soldiers in Poland by the end of the year. Writes about this on Tuesday, September 27, the publication Monde.

“The French military will be based in Poland, where they will conduct a five-week exercise in specialized military camps. The General Staff expressed a desire to speed up this process and start work before the end of 2022,” the article says.

According to journalists, until now, the participation of the military from France in this training has consisted only in briefing on the use of Caesar guns.

According to the article, the French army trained 150 Ukrainian specialists. At the same time, it is added that one part of the military worked in Kyiv, and the other trained Ukrainians in the Canjuers camp in the Var department.

The article recalls that the principle of the European mission to help and train Ukrainian soldiers and officers, called the European Union Training Mission, was approved on August 30 during a meeting in Prague of the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs of European countries.

The authors note that at the moment the EU wants to focus on “training formed units” that can replace the wounded or killed in battle.

Prior to this, on September 22, French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu announced that the country would continue to help Ukraine with weapons and military training.

On September 20, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko, at a meeting with the French Ambassador to Russia, Pierre Levy, announced the inadmissibility of the supply of weapons to Ukraine, which is subsequently used to shell the regions of Donbass and the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

On September 8, it was reported that France would supply Ukraine with 155-mm TRF1 self-propelled guns, which are no longer in service with the French army and are not used.

Earlier, in July, the French Foreign Ministry announced the shipment of six CAESAR self-propelled howitzers with a caliber of 155 mm to Kyiv. Then it was specified that 12 of these howitzers had already been handed over to the Ukrainian military.
