What are the features of the procedure, what is with safety and who will observe

“I will definitely appeal to Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to decide as soon as possible on the entry of the LNR into the Russian Federation following the results of the referendum,” he said.

As Pasechnik noted, security remains one of the important conditions for holding referendums.

“Today, all power structures are connected: the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of State Security, units of the people’s militia of the LPR, the commandant’s office, air defense units,” he said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

On the morning of September 23, in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), in the Kherson region and in the liberated territories of the Zaporozhye region, referendums began on the issue of joining the Russian Federation as subjects. Voting will last until September 27th.

Only face-to-face voting will be available in the LPR. Participants will be asked to answer the question: “Are you in favor of joining the LPR to the Russian Federation as a subject of Russia?” The text will be in Russian.

According to the survey, the overwhelming majority of residents of the DPR and LPR, as well as Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, support the holding of a referendum. In the DPR, 94% of the electorally active (ready to take part in the referendum) respondents were in favor of joining the republic to Russia. In the LPR, 93% of the polled citizens support this option, in the Zaporozhye region, 87% are ready to support it, and in the Kherson region, 80%.

On September 22, residents of the DPR told an Izvestia correspondent that they had been waiting for a referendum for eight years. They hope that this event will lead to an end to the shelling of the Donbass republics.

On September 21, the President of the Russian Federation addressed the Russians, residents of the republics of Donbass, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. He noted that Russia cannot but respond to the sincere desire of the inhabitants of these regions to determine their lives.

Putin also assured that Russia would do everything to ensure safe conditions for referendums on joining the liberated territories into the Russian Federation.
