As a result of rocket attacks by Russians on the territory of Ukraine, rolling blackouts will be applied in four regions of Ukraine and the capital.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Shmyhal said that dozens of missiles hit energy infrastructure facilities in 11 regions and the city of Kyiv. The power supply was disrupted almost throughout the country. There are problems with water supply in 8 regions. The government, together with all responsible departments, has launched an operational plan for the restoration of damaged facilities.
He noted that according to preliminary information, most of the energy infrastructure facilities can be restored today, some will start working tomorrow. Power supply has already been restored in the city of Sumy, the process is underway in Zhytomyr and Kharkov.
A schedule of emergency shutdowns has now been introduced in Kyiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy and Zhytomyr regions.
The prime minister repeatedly urged Ukrainians to limit electricity consumption, especially in the evening, for several days, while restoration and repair work is underway.
“If possible, do not turn on the most energy-consuming appliances (electric heaters, boilers, electric stoves, microwave ovens, washing machines, electric kettles, coffee makers, irons). This will reduce the load on our energy system and allow the infrastructure to be restored as quickly as possible,” the prime minister said.
