Terrible smartphones you can’t buy in 2023

Throughout the year, we watch with you how mobile technologies develop and how cool modern smartphones have become. Unfortunately, this does not apply to every device on the market. Along with good phones, there are often disgusting models that you want to throw away immediately after purchase. Although such devices are completely uninteresting from a technological point of view, you need to know them in person so that in 2023 you do not make the mistake of buying a bad smartphone for yourself or someone close to you.

It is unreasonable to expect great achievements from a cheap smartphone, which in official retail is sold for less than 5,000 hryvnias, but Redmi 10A is not just another newcomer from Xiaomi, but evidence of the company’s indifferent attitude towards its fans. It is now the phone with the lowest rating in Yandex Market among the 2022 models, and it deservedly received negative reviews.

The device uses the Helio G25 processor, familiar from the Redmi 9A of 2020, and its storage is made according to the old eMMC 5.1 standard, introduced 7 years ago. This combo becomes the key to the slowness of the smartphone when solving basic tasks such as opening sites in the browser or viewing updates in the social network feed.

In addition, Xiaomi managed to leave in the device 2022 a MicroUSB connector and a mediocre screen, the peak brightness of which is not enough even in cloudy weather.
Samsung Galaxy A23 is the king of bad Samsungs

Samsung never learned how to make good smartphones in the segment of inexpensive devices

Samsung is one of those manufacturers that many buyers mistakenly believe to be reliable. In the segment of flagships, the Koreans can really offer something special, but the owners of inexpensive phones of the brand receive scraps from the gentleman’s table in the form of 7-year-old technologies.

The official price of the Samsung Galaxy A23 smartphone in the basic 4/64 GB version is 10,000 hryvnias, which gives reason to count on at least tolerable characteristics. But in fact, the buyer gets a device with a cheap PLS display, which can be compared in terms of quality with the Redmi 10A screen, and the set of cameras for this money looks quite depressing: the basis is the infamous Samsung S5KJN1 sensor, an ultra-wide for a shameful 5 MP and an 8-megapixel frontalka.

Still, the main disadvantage of the device is the speed of operation. The Snapdragon 680 processor is not the worst solution in its price range, but everything is spoiled by the internal memory of the eMMC 5.1 standard, through which programs are installed and launched at the same speed as on the Redmi 10A.

If a cheap Xiaomi smartphone can be forgiven, given its cost, then seeing constant friezes and feeling general slowness on a Samsung for 10,000 hryvnias is a real test that smells like abuse from the manufacturer. It is not surprising that retail networks reduced the price of the device to an acceptable 8,000 hryvnias by the end of the year, but for this money you can find a more interesting smartphone.
The realme 9 Pro is a new phone that just got worse

When a manufacturer releases a new model, you involuntarily expect it to improve over its predecessor. However, realme does not follow this rule in the number series, which is confirmed by the realme 9 Pro smartphone, which has already become the third successor to the realme 6 Pro. There are two years between the device presentations, but how much has changed in that time?
Features realme 6 Pro realme 9 Pro Screen 6.6 inches, IPS (2400×1080), 90 Hz 6.6 inches, IPS (2400×1080), 120 Hz Primary camera 64 MP + 12 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP Front camera 16MP + 8MP 16MP Processor Snapdragon 720G Snapdragon 695 Battery 5000mAh 4300mAh Charging 33W 30W

Over the past two years, the smartphone has only acquired a higher screen refresh rate and a slightly smoother battery. At the same time, if we dig deeper, it turns out that realme 9 Pro is worse than its predecessor in many characteristics:

despite the use of a 64 MP main camera in both cases, the sensor size is larger than realme 6 Pro (1/1.72″ vs 1/2″);
realme 6 Pro has a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom;
the front panel of the old smartphone has an additional camera with a wider angle of capture;
the realme 9 Pro processor does not allow recording videos in 4K;
realme 6 Pro charges faster (57 minutes vs 75 minutes).

I think you now understand without further comments that realme 9 Pro is an extremely unsuccessful device that looks good only in comparison to its predecessors, which were released in previous years.
The HTC Desire 22 Pro is a very bad phone

We haven’t heard anything about the HTC company for a long time, but in 2022, the Taiwanese decided to remind us of themselves by releasing the HTC Desire 22 Pro – a smartphone for the metaverse. Unfortunately, behind the bold positioning hides the most mediocre device, the only feature of which is the ability to interact with the Viverse virtual space, for which you still need to buy an HTC VR helmet.
The smartphone is made of plastic and looks cheap, which emphasizes the width
