The Embassy of Finland denied the information about the ban on Russians from entering the EU

The Embassy of Finland in Moscow denied information about a complete ban on entry for tourist purposes into the European Union for all Russian citizens. On September 10, TASS writes about this with reference to the diplomatic mission.
Welcome – entry denied: the EU decided to further tighten entry for Russians
Will citizens of the Russian Federation be able to get to Europe

“This information is incorrect. We are talking about freezing the visa facilitation agreement, and not about a complete ban on tourism or the abolition of entry into the country, ”the agency’s source at the embassy replied.

On the eve of the media, referring to the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs of the EU, Ylva Johansson, they wrote that Russian citizens would be allowed to enter the countries of the European Union (EU) only for family and humanitarian reasons, as well as journalists. It was noted that Johansson proposed to the European Council “completely freeze tourist visas for Russians.”

On the same day, the European Union finally ratified the decision to completely terminate the visa facilitation agreement with the Russian Federation. It is reported that it will come into force on September 12. As a result of this decision, the price of the visa fee will change (from €35 to €80), the visa issuance time will increase, and additional documents will have to be submitted. In addition, the rules for issuing multiple-entry visas will become more stringent.

In addition, the European Commission (EC) sent recommendations to all EU countries not to issue multiple-entry visas with a long validity period to Russian citizens.

On September 6, the European Commission agreed on a proposal to stop visa facilitation with Russia. Johansson said that EU member states, among other things, will have the right to refuse visas to Russians who may “threaten the security of these countries.”
