The United States allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine to use American weapons in Crimea for self-defense

The United States allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine to use American weapons in Crimea for self-defense, Politico writes, citing a source in the White House.

“Of course, we do not select targets, and everything we have provided is for self-defense. Any goal they decide to pursue on sovereign Ukrainian soil is, by definition, self-defense,” he said.

He added that, according to the US position, Crimea is Ukraine.

Earlier, the British Ministry of Defense said that the explosions at the Russian military airfield Saki in Crimea were “almost certainly” caused by the detonation of several ammunition depots.

At the same time, the department said that the initial cause of the explosions remains unclear.

According to British intelligence, at least five Su-24 fighter-bombers and three Su-30 multirole fighters were almost certainly destroyed or severely damaged in the explosions.
