Viber adds delayed posting and will respond to user complaints faster

Viber is adding new features to channels and will respond more quickly to user complaints to counter hate speech. This was reported in a press release.

In addition to previously launched reactions to posts, comments appeared in the channels. They can be turned on and off at the discretion of the channel administration.

Also, now authors have the opportunity to plan future posts in advance. To do this, when publishing a post, hold down the send button and select the desired time.

The third new feature is a hidden list of channel members. It will only be available to admins and super admins, and users will only see the total number of members. This will ensure the confidentiality and security of data.

You can convert a community into a channel using a special bot. All previous messages will remain available, and community members will become members of the channel. The transition works in one direction, the channel cannot be turned back into a community.

Coinciding with the launch of these new features, Rakuten Viber signed the EU Code of Conduct on Countering Illegal Hate Speech on the Internet. If the channel contains offensive or humiliating content, users or one of the participating organizations will be able to mark the post as inappropriate. The Viber moderation team will review such messages within 24 hours.
