Windows 11 will get folders in both iOS and Android

Windows 11 will make laptops and computers look more like smartphone screens. Microsoft has announced a design update that makes the operating system similar to iOS and Android.

As shown in a promotional video presented at a recent Microsoft event, the company is working to implement the Applications folder on the Windows 11 desktop. Earlier this year, a similar feature was introduced for the Start menu.

Application folders have been the basis of the iOS and Android interfaces for many years. A folder is an icon on the screen of a smartphone where you can place application icons. For example, you can create a Messenger folder by setting shortcuts to Viber, Telegram, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and more. This makes the screen of the smartphone free and clear.

Windows 11 desktop folders will probably work just like iOS and Android. This will allow Windows 11 users to collect program shortcuts in themed groups and unload their desktops.

You may have to wait a while before the new desktop feature becomes widely available. The early access preview feature of Windows Insider has been suspended before the long-awaited launch of Windows 11 22H2, codenamed Sun Valley 2. There are rumors that 22H2 is almost ready to be sent, and Microsoft is working to fix bugs and vulnerabilities.

After the release of this large collection, the program folders of Windows 11 will appear with the next update. They will first be previewed by the initial access participants, and then made available to the general public.
