Zuckerberg said that Ukrainian Facebook and Instagram are not moderated from Moscow

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has 15,000 content reviewers, Ukrainian moderators work with Ukrainian: there are “no and never have been” moderators who work from Moscow. This Meta said in response to a request from Forbes.

The parent company of Facebook and Instagram said that 40,000 people are generally involved in security issues, of which 15,000 are content reviewers.

The press service of Meta noted that their teams are located around the world in different time zones.

“Contrary to some myths, we do not and never have moderators who work from Moscow.

We also don’t have and never had an office there,” the press service said.

It is noted that the regional office, managing 28 countries of the entire region of Central and Eastern Europe, including Ukraine, is located in Warsaw.

“The company uses a combination of human labor and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to check the content of posts and user complaints. These teams are staffed by native Ukrainian speakers who understand the local context.

Ukrainian content that requires linguistic and cultural expertise is checked by Ukrainian moderators, ”Meta’s response quotes the publication.

Meta also stated that the number of complaints does not affect the decision to remove content.

If the message does not violate the rules and standards of the social network, even a large number of complaints will not lead to a ban, the company claims.

Since the beginning of a full-scale war, Ukrainian users have been constantly faced with “anti-war” moderation in social networks.

Pages and posts related to the war and its consequences on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn are systematically blocked and deleted, but the companies themselves do not disclose the exact moderation algorithms, writes Forbes.

“Regardless of who publishes the content, we do not allow anything that is contrary to our policy. These rules are global,” answered Meta.

It is also noted that at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Meta created the Special Operations Center – the company calls it another line of defense against disinformation, which allows you to quickly remove content that violates the standards and rules of the community.

“We work with over 90 fact-checking partners in over 60 languages to review and evaluate content accuracy,” Meta responded.

The company said that they increased funding for Ukrainian partners on the fact check, without specifying their number and amount.
