2023 NFL Draft prop bets, odds, picks: Top expert backing Michael Mayer Under 23.5, 75-1 longshot
With the Chicago Bears content at quarterback with Justin Fields, the Carolina Panthers made the bold move to trade up from No. 9 in the 2023 NFL Draft to take ownership of the No. 1 pick. It cost them two first-round picks, two second-round picks and star receiver D.J. Moore but now the Panthers will presumably draft their quarterback of the future. One of the 2023 NFL Draft prop bets White recommends: Take Michael Mayer Under 23.5 (drafted 23rd overall or earlier) on Thursday, which currently brings a -160 (risk $160 to win $100) payout. Mayer was highly productive in three seasons at Notre Dame despite the Fighting Irish’s struggle to find consistency at quarterback, catching 180 passes for 2,099 yards and 18 touchdowns in three seasons.
The former five-star recruit out of Kentucky has earned regular comparisons with Jason Witten at 6-foot-4 and 249 pounds with 4.70-second speed in the 40-yard dash and a 32.5-inch vertical. CBS Sports NFL Draft analysts Josh Edwards, Pete Prisco and Kyle Stackpole all had Mayer going No. 15 to the Packers in their latest mock draft and with Green Bay moving up to No. 13 as a result of the Aaron Rodgers trade, that could still be an enticing spot for Mayer. The Commanders (No. 16), Lions (No. 18) and Seahawks (No. 20) all have tight-end needs as well and that’s why White sees Mayer coming off the board before the 24th overall pick.
