Alek Manoah: Obsessed, a six-part series documenting pitcher’s path to Blue Jays

Alek Manoah saw firsthand the sacrifices his mother made to put him on the path to being a major league pitcher.

Find out more about specific aspects of Manoah’s past and how it ties into who he is today in a six-part series called Alek Manoah: Obsessed, narrated by Hazel Mae.

The first episode of the series will air March 30 on Blue Jays Central. Each of the remaining five episodes will air on days Manoah starts and will be available on Sportsnet.ca and SN NOW.

For the first time in his career, Manoah was named the Blue Jays’ opening-day starter. The 25-year-old posted a 2.24 ERA in 2022 on his way to 196.2 innings and a third-place finish in American League Cy Young Award voting.

The honour also comes less than two years after Manoah’s MLB debut, reinforcing just how rapid his ascent to stardom has been since being selected by the Blue Jays 11th overall in the 2019 draft.

The Blue Jays open the season with a significant test, facing a St. Louis Cardinals team that won 93 games on the way to an NL Central title last year. Miles Mikolas will start opposite Manoah at Busch Stadium on March 30. First pitch is 4:10 p.m. ET / 1:10 p.m. PT.
