Arsenal fans sing Patrick Vieira’s name in opening seconds of Crystal Palace clash following club legend’s sacking by Eagles

Arsenal fans threw their support behind Patrick Vieira by singing his name minutes into their clash with Crystal Palace.

The Gunners’ legend made headlines this week after he was sacked as manager of the Eagles, being replaced by Paddy McCarthy on a caretaker basis.

Arsenal threw their support behind Vieira after his sacking as Palace boss

Arsenal’s supporters were full of support for the club legend, while Palace fans let off pyrotechnics before the game

Vieira’s side had endured a torrid run of form that had seen them win just one Premier League game in their last 14.

As a result, Palace had found themselves dragged into the relegation mix with just a three-point buffer on the drop zone.

While some had suggested that Vieira’s sacking was harsh, the search has now started for his successor.

Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Michael Carrick have all been linked with the vacancy, while Roy Hodgson has also emerged as an interim option.

The 75-year-old left Selhurst Park before Vieira’s appointment, however he could be tempted back to help the club avoid relegation before a longer-term solution is found.
