Best NBA bets today (Ride the red hot Warriors)

We have nine NBA games to watch and bet on throughout Sunday, so just because the Elite 8 will be ongoing, doesn’t mean we can’t wager on some NBA as well.

If you’re looking for some plays for today’s action, you’ve come to the right place.

Reed Wallach and I have bets placed in several games across The Association.

Let’s take a look at three of our favorites for today’s action.

NBA best bets today

  • Nets/Magic OVER 225.5
  • Thunder -9.5 vs. Trail Blazers
  • Warriors -6.5 vs. Timberwolves

Nets/Magic OVER 225.5

“The Magic allow a ton of three-point shots, which is going to play right into the Nets’ hands on offense, who have been emphasizing putting up shots from beyond the arc since trading Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

“This season, Orlando allows the third highest three-point rate and the Nets are sixth on offense since Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith made their debut with the team. Brooklyn hasn’t been on fire from deep, just 35% as a team since then, but the team broke out in the second half against Miami on Saturday night and shot 18-of-40 from beyond the arc.

“I envision the Nets getting up north of 40 three’s again against Orlando’s compact defense, but the Magic should get its fair share of points given they are playing faster as the season has gone on. Orlando is sixth in pace in March, averaging two more possessions per 48 minutes this month.

“This game should be played at a faster pace than this total implies, and the Nets three-point rate can help push this coin flip game over the total.” – Reed Wallach

Thunder -9.5 vs. Trail Blazers

“The wheels are off for Portland, who won’t have Lillard available and are fresh off a 28 point home loss to Chicago. It seems steep to lay nearly double digits with the Thunder, but this is a team that has the defensive capabilities to shut down the reserves of Portland and a star guard in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to win with margin.

“The Thunder are a top 10 defensive team this season in terms of points per 100 possessions allowed and they should cook on offense against a Blazers defense that is bottom five in the league.

“I don’t believe the market is catching up to how poor this team is at the moment. Since the beginning of March, Portland has the same net rating as the Detroit Pistons, the worst team in basketball at -9.4. Lay it with the Thunder against a Blazers team that is far worse than the market is indicating.” – Reed Wallach

Warriors -6.5 vs. Timberwolves

“The key thing to look at in this game is the Warriors three-point shooting against the Timberwolves perimeter defense.

“As we all know, the Warriors are a three-point shooting team, ranking second in the NBA in three-point shot rate with 47.9% of their shots coming from beyond the arc. That number has increased to 51.5% over their last three games.

“Now, they get to face a Timerwolves team that ranks 26th in the country in opponent three-point field goal percentage, allowing teams to shoot 37.3% from beyond the arc. Over their last three games, they’ve allowed teams to shoot 43.2% from beyond the arc against them.

“That spells disaster for Minnesota.

“I also have no interest in fading a Warriors team that has been red hot as of late. They have an effective field goal percentage of 60% over their last three games, winning those games by an average of 7.7 points.

“I’ll back Golden State tonight.” – Iain MacMillan
