The pair will debut their new single “Bongos” on the program
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion will reunite for a debut performance of their just-released single “Bongos” during the 2023 Video Music Awards next week.
In 2021, the pair received a notable 5x VMAs nominations for their unforgettable hit single “WAP” including Song of the Summer, Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration and Best Hip Hop. “WAP” made history as the first female rap collaboration to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, then spending four weeks at the top spot as well as being certified platinum 8x in the U.S.
The pair are the latest performers announced following the additions of Fall Out Boy, Metro Boomin with Future, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Swae Lee & Nav, and Peso Pluma. Olivia Rodrigo, Demi Lovato, Karol G, Måneskin, Stray Kids, Lil Wayne, Anitta, Doja Cat, Kelsea Ballerini, and Tomorrow X Together are among the performers announced. Bebe Rexha, Charli D’Amelio, Coco Jones, Dixie D’Amelio, Emily Ratajkowski, French Montana, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Jared Leto, Madelyn Cline, Rita Ora and Sabrina Carpenter are among the first round of presenters. Additionally, the lineup for the Extended Play Stage presented by Doritos includes Kaliii, Reneé Rapp and The Warning.
Nicki Minaj is set for a triumphant return to the MTV stage, reprising her dual role as show emcee and performer at the show, set to air live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Tuesday, September 12th at 8 pm ET/PT. The 2023 VMAs Pre-Show airs live from 6:30 until 8 pm ET/PT on MTV, MTV2, CMT, and Logo, hosted by award-winning rap star Saweetie with Nessa, Dometi Pongo and Kevan Kenney.
With the addition of Social Categories, Taylor Swift still leads the nominations with 11, followed by Sza with eight, Blackpink, Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo with six, Kim Petras and Sam Smith with five each, Beyoncé, Diddy, Drake, Ice Spice, Karol G, Metro Boomin, Shakira and Tomorrow X Together with four apiece.
Global sensation Shakira will receive MTV’s coveted Video Vanguard Award, presented by Toyota, and perform live for the first time since 2006.
