Charlotte vs. Milwaukee prediction and odds for CBI quarterfinals

It’s the final game of the CBI quarterfinals on Monday and the conclusion to another packed day of betting on tournament basketball.

March is the month of upsets and madness and that doesn’t just mean the NCAA Tournament. The CBI had a couple of upsets including the No. 11 seed, Milwaukee Panthers knocking off No. 6, Stetson, 87-83 in the first round to move on to the quarterfinals. No, they have an even bigger test facing the No. 3 Charlotte 49ers.

Charlotte beat the Western Carolina Catamounts by a palindrome, 65-56, looking to finish its season on a high note after losing three in a row to finish their season. Let’s get into the odds for Charlotte and Milwaukee.

Charlotte vs. Milwaukee odds, spread and total

Charlotte vs. Milwaukee prediction and pick

These teams are two complete opposites. The Charlotte 49ers want to lock their opponents down on the defensive end of the floor and were 24th in opponents points per game this year and 361st in possessions per game. The 49ers play at a painfully slow pace. Milwaukee, on the other hand, is 12th in possessions per game and 40th in points per game. They want to get up and down and shoot 23.0 three-pointers a game.

Because Milwaukee plays so fast they force themselves into mistakes. They average 15 turnovers a game and only force 13.7. A team with a negative turnover differential is never a team you want to trust in March. Charlotte is barely in the positive, only turning it over 10.7 times a game and forcing 11.0. Turnovers and missed shots will jumpstart Milwaukee’s transition game, and while that’s scary, I think Charlotte plays this one at their pace, doesn’t make those costly mistakes which leads me to the under.
