Chrisagis Brothers present 12th Legends Concert | News, Sports, Jobs

RAYLAND — The Chrisagis Brothers have done it once again, as they are bringing the 12th installment of their acclaimed Legends Concert to Buckeye Local High School.

This coming event will take place at 6 p.m. on May 6 inside the BLHS auditorium in Ryaland.

“The Brothers” are known for putting together some of the biggest concerts in the tri-state area with the most legendary, iconic and award-winning performers from both Hollywood and the music industry. The May 6 Legends Concert promises to be one of the greatest nights in the world of Christian music this year with a stellar line-up of musical legacies. The concert promises to be a showcase of Grammy and Dove award winners with four of Christian Music’s biggest and brightest stars.

“The Queen of Christian Music” Sandi Patty, Russ Taff, Wayne Watson and Kim Boyce will all perform during this year’s extravaganza. Hosting this year’s event with the Chrisagis Brothers will be from the Jesus Revolution era, musical Pioneer Jayne Farrell from the internationally loved duo Farrell and Farrell.

The Legends include:

∫ Sandi Patty: an acclaimed performer with five Grammy awards, five Billboard Music Awards, 40 Dove Awards, four platinum records, six gold records and 12 million units sold. Patty is simply known as “the Voice.” She has been compared to the likes of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Barbara Streisand with her amazing vocal range and show-stopping style that has left audiences wanting more and critics hailing her as the most dynamic Christian Music Artist in history. Patty’s songs include “We Shall Behold Him,” “Via Dolorosa,” “Upon This Rock,” “In Heaven’s Eyes” and “I’ve Just Seen Jesus.”

She was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2004 and was named an Indiana Living Legend in 2007. She has released 30 albums. While her 30-year career is heavily rooted in the gospel music industry, she has performed with symphonies across the country, including the New York Pops, Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops, Dallas Symphony, Houston Symphony and Oklahoma City Philharmonic. She was the first Christian Music Artist on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson,” was always featured at The White House when Ronald Reagan was president, performed at many Billy Graham Crusades, performed for Pope John Paul II, and was featured on TVs “7th Heaven.” She had her own TV specials and was even featured in Charles Schulz’ cartoons The Peanuts. She starred on stage in sold-out performances of “Hello Dolly” and “The Sound Of Music.”

∫ Russ Taff: one of the most powerful and electrifying voices Christian music has ever known. Taff has received six Grammy awards, 18 Dove Awards and is in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. His life story has been made into a movie called “I Still Believe,” and he was featured as one of the ultimate greats in “The Jesus Music Film.” Taff has sung a variety of musical styles throughout his anointed and powerful career including pop, rock, country, jazz, traditional, southern gospel, contemporary and rhythm and blues.

Taff first gained recognition as lead vocalist for Elvis Presley’s favorite musical group, The Imperials (1975-1981). He’s also been a member of the Gaither Vocal Band, and occasionally still tours with the Gaither Homecoming Concerts. As a recording artist, Taff is known as one of the most dynamic ambassadors of the Gospel and probably the most beloved of all Christian artists in music history. That’s because he loves his fans, loves God’s people and has a heart for the hurting, the unsaved, unchurched and those that so-called Christians wouldn’t bother with. Taff has God’s heart and that is shown in the music he writes and sings that set captives free, with songs like: “Praise The Lord,” “We Will Stand,” “Trumpet Of Jesus,” “New Creation” and “Ain’t No Grave.” He is a mighty general in God’s army and in the music world. He recorded 12 albums as a solo artist, eight with the Imperials, six with the Gaithers and his 1985 “Medals” album has been named the best in the top 20 albums in Christian Music history.

∫ Wayne Watson: noted as one of the great voices and songwriters in Christian Music history. He was one of the top Recording Artists of the 1980s and ’90s and defined the genre with his music style and vocals. His first album “Working In The Final Hour” became gold and captured a generation of Christian music listeners and radio. Watson has produced 23 No. 1 hit singles on Christian Radio, winner of 15 Dove Awards and one Grammy award, and has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. He appeared on Johnny Carson and sang his inspirational hit song “For Such A Time As This” for the very successful TV series Touched By An Angel. Watson has over two dozen recordings and has been the featured singer at Carnegie Hall for the Savior Musical created by Bob Farrell.

∫ Kim Boyce: one of Christian music’s most dynamic female stars. Her inner beauty and talent, accompanied by her outer beauty and grace, led her to the 1984 Miss America Pageant, where she finished as one of the runners up. She went on to be a legendary iconic recording artist for the Christian world. Her songs were unlike other artists. She dealt with issues that plagued young people. She recorded seven successful albums, with 11 No. 1 hit singles and three top music videos.

She garnered tons of Grammy and Dove Award nominations, and was chosen to duet with Christian Music’s most prominent hunk, Carman to sing his top musical release “Fear Not My Child.” Boyce is the author of five Christian books and has her own Theater in Branson Missouri with her husband, Gary Koreiba.

∫ Jayne Farrell: the wife of legendary songwriter Bob Farrell, who has been named among the greatest songwriters in Christian Music history with the likes of Dottie Rambo and Bill Gaither. Jayne and Bob formed the internationally successful duo Farrell and Farrell. The Farrells are noted as two of Christian music’s pioneers who came out around the Jesus Revolution era and started Christian music in the early ’70s. They also were the very first music missionaries who took the gospel to every nation, including behind the Iron Curtain. Their music brought a generation of hippies and teenagers into salvation and brought revival all over the world. The two are still going strong and now teaching the young how to minister for Jesus. They call it “The Young Lions.” The Farrells had 14 albums to their music credits and have written songs for almost every Christian Music Artists in the industry today.

∫ Larry Hall: one of the greatest musicians the country has today. He has traveled with some of the greatest Christian music legends and country music legends. He will be playing the keyboards for Taff. Both Taff and Patty will have their own band at this event.

The Chrisagis Brothers will be also be singing and paying tribute to some of the greatest Christian Music ministries from the past such as: Keith Green, Evie Tornquist, Dallas Holm, Second Chapter of Acts, Larry Norman, Tammy Faye Bakker, Scott Wesley Brown, Stephanie Boosahda, Andrae Crouch, Amy Grant, Carman, Twila Paris, Michael English, Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith. Others performing that night are Mark Statler, Joann Jones, Melanie Roskovich and Tricia Ware Amie.

During the concert, there will be refreshments and food to purchase outside the school, thanks to Ideal Provisions.

Doors to the Legends Concert open at 5 p.m., and meet and greets are at 4 p.m.
