Coach Prime’s first Pac-12 home game with Colorado will be against USC

The USC Trojans won’t have many breaks in the 2023 schedule this time around.

The official release occurred on Wednesday, and our friends at Buffaloes Wire have more on that, but a few details stand out in particular about this schedule. Nearly all of the dates have been revealed.

The Colorado Buffaloes just hired Deion Sanders as the new head coach, and his first Pac-12 home game will be against the USC Trojans at Folsom Field in Boulder.

The first Pac-12 game for the Buffs will be a road game at Oregon on Sept. 23, and a week later on Sept. 30, they face USC in Boulder in a brutal two-game stretch to begin Coach Prime’s tenure with the Buffs.

Pac-12 insider John Canzano detailed this in his look at various Pac-12 football schedule nuggets.

Colorado is getting tested early on, and the first game of the season will be against TCU on the road. The Horned Frogs just made the College Football Playoff and the national title game before getting blitzed by Georgia.

USC faced Colorado in Los Angles in 2022, defeating the Buffs 55-17 in another forgetful game for Colorado.

The Buffs have retooled their roster in the transfer portal and on the recruiting front, with five-star cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter and QB Shedeur Sanders (Deion’s son) coming over from Jackson State, not to mention a plethora of other notable names making their way to Boulder.

This time around, the Colorado-USC game should be a much closer battle, but Deion Sanders has a brutal beginning to the Pac-12 slate.
