For France, there is no taboo on the issue of possible deliveries of fighter jets to Kyiv. This was announced on Tuesday, January 31, by the Minister of Defense of the country Sebastian Lecornu at a joint press conference with his colleague from Ukraine Alexei Reznikov, who is in Paris on a visit.
“As for aircraft, we have no taboo on this issue. In this matter, we rely on three criteria, which have already been mentioned by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron,” said Lecornu.

A day earlier, Macron said that the supply of fighter jets by Western countries to Ukraine is possible, but should be based on three criteria. First, the supplies should benefit the Ukrainian army. Secondly, the supplies must not lead to an escalation of the conflict, and the third criterion is that they must not weaken the defenses of the French army.
At the same time, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte also announced his readiness to transfer the F-16 to Ukraine, adding, however, that he had not yet received relevant requests from Kyiv.
On the same day, the President of Lithuania called on Western countries to cross the “red lines” and give Kyiv fighter jets. He pointed out that other “red lines”, previously widely discussed, the West has long since crossed. As an example, Nauseda cited the “previously impossible” supply of tanks by Germany to Ukraine.
In turn, US President Joe Biden said that his administration has no plans to supply Kyiv with F-16 fighter jets. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also said that Germany is not even considering the supply of fighter jets to Ukraine.
Prior to that, on January 25, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv expects to receive combat aircraft, artillery and long-range missiles from the West. He stressed that the partners “should expand our cooperation in the field of artillery, we must go to the supply of aircraft for Ukraine.”
