Justin Jefferson named NFL Offensive Player of the Year

Former LSU star receiver Justin Jefferson continues to take the NFL by storm. The Minnesota Vikings standout is making a strong argument as the best pass-catcher in the league, and he was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year during the annual NFL Honors on Thursday night.

After a record-setting rookie season and nearly breaking Randy Moss’ Vikings single-season receiving record in Year 2, he obliterated the record in 2022, finishing with 1,809 yards — nearly 200 more than Moss’ 1,632 — to go with eight touchdowns on 128 catches (the seventh-most in NFL history).

Jefferson’s 35 first-place votes beat out Patrick Mahomes, the runner-up and NFL MVP, as well as Jalen Hurts, Tyreek Hill and Josh Allen.

After winning a national title in college as part of one of the greatest college football teams of all time, Jefferson has quickly carried that success over to the NFL. Now, he’s cemented himself as the best offensive player in the league in 2022.
