King Charles coronation: How to watch the momentous occasion at Westminster Abbey live from Perth

If you’ve been stressing about missing out on watching the coronation of King Charles III — have no fear, PerthNow and The West Australian will be live-streaming the once-in-a-lifetime event, thanks to 7NEWS who will be reporting from London.

The King will be crowned on Saturday, May 6, eight months on from his appointment as King on September 8 last year following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Royalists can tune in to Channel 7 for full coronation coverage, from the arrivals to the service at Westminster Abbey to the procession to Buckingham Palace, with a special edition of Weekend Sunrise, hosted by Monique Wright and Matt Doran, kicking off coverage of the momentous event from 7am.

The ceremony at Westminster Abbey, where the King will be crowned, begins at 6pm Perth time. PerthNow and The West Australian will begin live-streaming at 4pm, as 7NEWS Spotlight presenter Michael Usher and former BBC royal correspondent Angela Rippon bring you all the coronation pomp and pageantry.

Up to 2000 people will attend the momentous occasion, among the crowd will be foreign royals, British politicians, foreign heads of state, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and celebrities including David and Victoria Beckham, Joanna Lumley, Stella McCartney, Rowan Atkinson and Bear Grylls

Following the ceremony, the King and Queen will travel back to Buckingham Palace along a parade route through London with almost 4000 military personnel, before appearing on the balcony for a fly-past at 9.15pm AWST.

After 7NEWS bulletins, coverage of the King’s procession to Westminster Abbey will begin from 7pm until late on Channel 7 and 7Plus.

If you’d prefer to watch the coronation outside of your living room, the City of Perth will be screening the event in the Northbridge Piazza from 3pm until 9pm including arrivals, the service, the procession and the presentation on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
