Meghan Markle denies coronation absence is over letters she wrote to King Charles

Meghan Markle rejected reports that she’s refusing to attend King Charles’ coronation next month over letters the pair exchanged about her concerns of racism within the royal family as “false” and “ridiculous.”

On Friday, the Telegraph reported that the Duchess of Sussex penned letters to her father-in-law after the bombshell 2021 interview she and Prince Harry did with Oprah Winfrey.

In their correspondence, Markle reportedly shared her belief with the king that a senior royal was prejudiced toward her even after she and her husband Prince Harry had already revealed that there were “concerns and conversations” about the color of their unborn son’s skin.

The report came just days after Buckingham Palace announced the Duchess of Sussex would skip King Charles’ May 6 coronation, but Harry would be attending alone.

While Meghan no longer holds “a grudge” over the prejudice incident, the paper reported it played a factor in her choice to bail on the May 6 Coronation — which she vehemently denied on Saturday.

“The Duchess of Sussex is going about her life in the present, not thinking about correspondence from two years ago related to conversations from four years ago. Any suggestion otherwise is false and frankly ridiculous,” Markle’s camp said in a statement to Bazaar, com, shared on social media by author Omid Sobie.

In their correspondence, King Charles — then the Prince of Wales — wrote to the Duke and Duchess expressing his “deep concern” and disappointment they made such public and damaging allegations, a source close to the Royals told the paper.

According to The Telegraph, the letters were “warm in tone,” but failed to ease tensions between the exiled in-laws, which would only intensify with the release of Netflix’s “Harry & Meghan” documentary and Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare,”  — each loaded with family secrets.

The royal family is reportedly “delighted” that Prince Harry is attending the ceremony without his wife.

Experts expect the Duke to be given the cold shoulder by his family upon arriving.
