Minors Madness: Round 1, Hoo-Hoos and Gasbags regions

The 64-team bracket is set. Let us admire it:

As you can see, Friday’s voting in the Gasbags Region produced nary a single upset. It was our least dramatic round of voting yet. Fare-thee-well to the Senators, Fightin Phils, Braves, Aviators, Cubs, Missions, Threshers, Redbirds, Clippers, Braves (again), Marauders, Dodgers and Baysox. The closest match was between the No. 16 Emeralds and the No. 17 Blue Rocks, which was decided on the 53.8-46.2 percent margin. But, before we look forward, a quick shoutout to the vanquished Blue Rocks. They talked some good game:

Everyone else, please step things up.

Today, we attack the right side of the bracket, the Goobers and Hoo-Hoos regions. Say hello to two No. 1 seeds, the Montgomery Biscuits and Albuquerque Isotopes. Welcome also to these No. 2 seeds: the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and Akron RubberDucks. You can learn about them below, and you can also refresh your memory on the teams that have advanced so far.

Looking for some good matchups? We’ve weeded out all the boring team names, so intriguing choices abound. How about a Tennessee showdown between the Sounds and the Smokies? A Reds system donnybrook between the Tortugas and the Bats? Does a Kernel outrank a Lookout? Would a Flying Tiger swoop down and pluck a Chihuahua off the ground for a midday snack? Let us know with your votes, and in the comments section.

Voting will remain open until midnight ET. Come back Monday for the results, and for voting on the second half of the bracket.
