MPH is cruising full-speed ahead into the sunset with a colorful debut LP in tow, 132.00 FM.
With his soulful samples, blissful melodies and revving basslines, MPH had been diligently carving a lane in the U.K. garage scene that is uniquely his own. Night Bass Records has become his home in recent years and he’s released multiple EPs, including 2021’s Spend The Night.
With 132.00 FM, MPH derives strength from his prior successes in stringing together a cohesive body of work that stands to showcase the energizing potential of his wholly singular sound.
The pedal hits the metal immediately with “Doubt,” a track that incorporates dazzling soundscapes, memorable vocals and bouncing basslines. It’s a track with show-stopping potential in the club—a variable that rapidly becomes a recurring theme in this LP.
The driving rhythms continue on “Ghost,” which mixes in additional rave influences like stabbing chords and dense distortion on the low-end. As the sun once again peeks back over the landscape with “Sunrise,” MPH focuses on deploying sticky melodies and soothing, lounge-style vocals. His closer, “R&R” (with Hamdi) incorporates breakbeat-style drums, meditative vocals and the faint warmth of waning horns for a fitting send-off.
