No. 1 2024 recruit set to visit Michigan

Michigan football reeled in a solid class during the 2023 cycle, but the Wolverines have a chance to get a really, really great class in 2024 if they can hit on their top targets.

The maize and blue failed to get a quarterback in the 2023 cycle, but Michigan is putting all the cards on getting a commitment from 2024 five-star Jaydn Davis.

It also appears Michigan is trying to get traction moving on the new No. 1 overall recruit by On3, Dylan Stewart. The Washington (D.C.) Friendship Academy product is an edge rusher and he was recently named the top overall prospect in the country by the site.

Here is what the On3 scouting report says about Stewart.

Scouting Summary: Disruptive pass rusher who looks to be one of the top EDGE prospects early on in the 2024 cycle. Shows a quick first step. Fires off the ball with the ability to quickly redirect with lateral agility. Dips and bends around the edge, showing some encouraging flexibility and curvilinear movement. Also plays low and gets underneath the pads of opposing offensive linemen. Has good size and stature checking in at 6-foot-4.5, 211 pounds with a 81-inch wing-span prior to his junior season. Will need to continue progressing from a strength and technical perspective as he continues through his high school career.

According to On3’s EJ Holland, the No. 1 player is set to visit Michigan next month.

While Stewart is the No. 1 overall recruit by On3, 247Sports differs a little. According to the Composite rankings on 247Sports, Stewart is still a five-star but he is the 28th-ranked recruit in the class.

It appears Michigan will be competing with South Carolina, Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State, and other suitors for the five-star talent.

Michigan currently has seven verbal commits in the 2024 cycle and the Wolverines have the fifth-ranked class so far.
