Police investigating brawl that injured Jamaal Lascelles and brother outside Newcastle nightclub
Police are appealing for help over an incident that saw Newcastle player Jamaal Lascelles attacked in a sickening city centre brawl.
The 29-year-old found himself in the altercation in the early hours of Sunday morning on August 20 following the Magpies‘ 1-0 defeat away at Manchester City.
A video has since emerged online of the Newcastle club captain being punched in the face outside Chinawhite nightclub.
According to reports, Lascelles’ 19-year-old brother was elbowed in the head and another member of their group was knocked unconscious at around 4am.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 4am on Sunday August 20, we received a report of disorder involving a number of people on Westgate Road in Newcastle city centre.
“Officers attended, however it is believed that those involved had already left the scene before they arrived.

“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should use the Tell Us Something page of our website or call 101, quoting NP-20230820-0227.”
Newcastle United declined to comment.
According to The Times, the player jumped in to defend his brother.
He suffered damage to his ear after being struck from behind, while his group were said to have been threatened with being shot.
The Times quote a source saying: “A group of lads threw bottles at Jamaal Lascelles outside of the nightclub and then his brother was hit in the face with an elbow. There was blood coming out of his brother’s mouth.
“Lascelles was hit on the back of the head several times before he threw a punch back.
“One of Lascelles’ group was on the ground and then got kicked in the face and was knocked out cold.
“He was being resuscitated when the police arrived. He was out cold for more than ten minutes.”
The Daily Mail have claimed that Newcastle have seen the video, with the matter to be dealt internally, though it is of the belief that the player acted in self-defence.
Lascelles, who has featured in 225 games for the club since joining in 2015, was an unused substitute in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat against Liverpool at St James’ Park.
