Pricilla Block has successfully transformed her social recognition into an adoring fanbase. While sporting a striking two-piece gown encrusted in jewels at the 2023 CMT Music Awards in Austin, Texas earlier this month (April 2), the bold artist reflected on her massive wins since breaking into the country genre.
TikTok became Block’s golden ticket to stardom at the height of the global health crisis in 2020. Listeners resonated with her empowerment anthems, authentic storytelling, and vibrant personality – she became everybody’s virtual best friend. Her karaoke-worthy tracks “Thick Thighs,” “PMS,” and breakup banger “Just About Over You,” scored the North Carolina native a well-deserved record deal with UMG Nashville.
Following the release of her label debut album Welcome to the Block Party, which flawlessly intertwines her country-pop twang with Southern rock elements – the promising artist embarked on a sold-out headlining tour. Block mentioned that hitting intimate venues nationwide has been a stand-out moment thus far. It was the genuine human connection that resonated with the budding vocalist.
“It’s really hard to pinpoint my favorite,” stressed Block. “Just being out on tour and meeting the fans. It’s the best feeling in the world. Hearing fans’ stories on how they relate to the music have been really awesome,” she added with a beaming smile.
Although devoted listeners have secured a place in the singer’s heart, she pointed out that her sizzling single “You, Me, & Whiskey” with Justin Moore has been a career highlight. The guitar-soaked duet delivers a liquor-induced narrative about a couple that needs a neat glass of whiskey to rekindle a spark.
“Obviously, having a song right now with Justin Moore is really cool,” Block said confidently. “We are top 30 on Country Radio. So, that’s amazing.”
Block does not take the collaboration lightly, as she knows that Moore is selective. The only other female Moore has teamed up with is Miranda Lambert. The two released “Old Habits” together in 2013, which lives on Moore’s critically acclaimed album Off The Beaten Path (Deluxe Edition).
“The only other female duet partner he’s had is Miranda Lambert,” uttered Block before disclosing an untold secret. “They told me this story about when Miranda came to the studio. She had a baby kangaroo in her purse.”
After hearing the bizarre story, she felt disappointed.
“I was like, ‘Guys…I hate that I had to let you down. I have nothing in my purse, besides tampons,” she said while laughing. “The next time I go to the studio with Justin, I’m gonna have to get a baby kangaroo.”
On the heels of their smash hit “You, Me, & Whiskey” and unforgettable appearance at the CMT Music Awards, the singer-songwriter launched a capsule collection with global retailer SHEIN.
