Savannah Chrisley says she ‘knew’ Colton Underwood was gay when they first met in 2017

Before he came out in 2021, Savannah Chrisley insists she ‘knew’ Colton Underwood was gay when they first met back in 2017.

The duo laughed over their lack of romantic chemistry when they attended the ACM Awards together while speaking on Savannah’s podcast, Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley.

Underwood, who rose to fame on The Bachelor franchise, came out in 2021, a year after splitting from his final rose pick Cassie Randolph.

‘When we met the first time, I knew you were gay. Like, I knew it!’ she admitted.

‘It was ACM Awards, I forgot what year, but it was after Luke Kennard and I broke up, and I was like, “Alright, screw this.” You know how it goes, you go through a breakup,’ Savannah told Colton, who added he was also ‘coming off of’ a split at the time.

‘There was like no connection there whatsoever,’ Savannah said. 

‘No! I mean for obvious reasons,’ Colton replied. ‘When I say “it’s not you, it’s me”, like I truly mean that and obviously I proved that at this point. Yeah, it was still a fun weekend though! We still had so much fun.’

Savannah recalled raising her suspicions to her friend Emily – who shut her down. 

‘I remember looking at Emily, and I was like, “He’s totally gay,”‘ Savannah recalled. ‘She was like, “No he’s not Savannah!”‘

Savannah then confessed to meeting up with another man later that evening. 

‘And then later that night, I left and went back to my room. And I was like, “I’m really not feeling well, I’m going to go back to my room.” And you guys went and gambled,’ she recalled. 

Savannah said she ended up going to another hotel to hang out with friends and ‘another guy.’

‘Not offended at all!’ Colton said after learning of what really happened that evening. ‘I would have done the same if I was in your position.’

A football player turned reality star, Colton first gained real fame as a contestant on The Bachelorette before becoming The Bachelor himself in 2019.

He ultimately gave his final rose to Cassie Randolph, however they split in 2020 and things turned messy quickly afterwards with Cassie filing a restraining order against him which she later withdrew. 

Colton came out as gay in 2021 and a year later became engaged to political strategist Jordan C. Brown.

The reality star sounded over the moon as he spoke with Us Weekly prior to their engagement. 

‘I’m happy, I’m in love and I’m in a good position,’ he said after introducing Jordan to his family. ‘Everything as far as that goes has been pretty smooth.’
