UFC adds Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Vanessa Demopoulos to May 20 event
Strawweights Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Vanessa Demopoulos will look to extend their winning streaks when they square off in May.
Kowalkiewicz (14-7 MMA, 7-7 UFC) is set to meet Demopoulos (9-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) at a UFC Fight Night event on May 20, which doesn’t yet have a publicly known venue or location.
A person with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA Ideas was first to report the news.
Once on a five-fight losing skid, former title challenger Kowalkiewicz has turned things around by scoring back-to-back wins – a submission of Felice Herrig followed by a unanimous decision over Silvana Gomez Juarez last November at UFC 281.
Since dropping her UFC debut to JJ Aldrich in August 2021, Demopoulos has won three straight fights, most recently a unanimous decision over Maria Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 215 last November.
