Chizhov announced that EU countries have gone far in sanctions against Russia

The European Union’s impulse to sanction Russia has been “largely emasculated.” This was stated by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Vitaly Chizhov.
Freeze on principle: Estonian importers of Russian oil are accused of “betrayal”
Politicians sacrifice the interests of the country’s economy for the sake of “European solidarity”

“They have gone far enough and they can’t retreat anymore. They could, for example, turn the tap on Nord Stream 2. And their problem will be solved. But this would be the failure of their entire policy, which is to achieve the defeat of Russia and its president. Of course, in this situation, turning on Nord Stream 2 is signing off for your failure. The EU sanctions impulse has been largely emasculated by now, ”TASS quotes him as saying.

Chizhov noted that the European economy cannot do without Russian gas, which is why the EU countries could not agree on a gas price ceiling. The diplomat warned that a harsh winter awaited the Europeans.

“Now they have 80 percent of storage full. That is, if they use up all the reserves of all resources, they should be enough, but no one knows what will happen in a year. In France, where most of the electricity is produced at nuclear power plants, half of the reactors are closed for repairs and reconstruction. But France will not want to “feed” the whole of Europe, even if everything works for her,” Chizhov said.

Earlier in the day, he announced his imminent departure from Brussels after 17 years as envoy. Finally, he noted that there would be no return to the former relations between Russia and the EU.

On September 9, EU energy ministers failed to agree on a price ceiling for Russian pipeline gas. According to European Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, the ministers have a hard work ahead of them before the final package of proposals from the European Commission is ready.

At the same time, the price ceiling for Russian oil will come into effect on December 5. The marginal cost of black gold from the Russian Federation will be determined by a number of technical parameters.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on September 7 that if a price limit on energy resources from the Russian Federation is introduced, the West is threatened with a complete halt in supplies from the country. He noted that the EU is not in a position to dictate its terms.
