In Belgrade, despite resistance, EuroPride was held – with incidents and 30 arrests

In Belgrade, the Europride ended, the police detained three dozen provocateurs for the entire time.

According to European Pravda, this is reported by RTS.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs did not allow the participants to walk along Kralya Alexander Boulevard and directed them along a different route from the Constitutional Court to Tashmaydansky Park, where the event was supposed to end with a concert.

Together with LGBT+ activists from all over Europe, the event was joined by diplomats – ambassadors of the EU, USA, France, Portugal.

During the event, there were several incidents, for all the time the police detained 31 people. One of the detainees had an ax and a knife with him, he is charged with obstructing the police in the performance of their duties.

In one place, a group of young people in masks and hoods attacked the police with sticks, various objects and pyrotechnics. From the Square of Glory, the police dispersed a group of EuroPride opponents, also young people in masks, shouting insults at the participants and journalists, some approached the operators with threats.

Elsewhere, a few people with crosses and icons managed to get onto the demonstration route – they stood on a rainbow flag and said a prayer before the police led them behind the fence.

Recall that earlier this week in Belgrade, thousands of religious and right-wing demonstrators called on the authorities to ban EuroPride. Official Belgrade tried to prevent the event from taking place, but eventually agreed to it.

EuroPride takes place annually in another European city, in 2022 the organizers have chosen Belgrade.
