Transport links with Crimea will not stop

“Now we need to wait for information on transport. It is unclear how long this will take. There are quite a lot of tourists. But let me remind you that in 2014-2015, the ferry operated during the summer peak season and transported a huge number of people. Now there are incomparably fewer tourists, so there will be no significant problems with transportation. We really hope that tourists will feel this to a small extent, ”he told RIA Novosti.

According to him, at the moment there are tens of thousands of tourists in Crimea.

“There are tens of thousands of people. At the same time, about several thousand [tourists] should leave in the next two or three days. In several thousand, the number of those who only had to call in is measured, ”Umansky specified.

Meanwhile, according to ATOR analysts, over 50,000 tourists may currently be in Crimea.

In addition, Umansky assured that there are no cancellations of tours to Crimea yet, but they are expected.

“Of course, this [the incident on the Crimean bridge] will affect the continuation of the velvet season. This is a resonant event, and most likely we will have a small number of cancellations for the coming dates and everything will depend on how quickly the consequences are eliminated. And the continuation of Velvet and our forecasts and plans for the winter season will depend on this,” he concluded.

The incident on the Crimean bridge, which entailed the restriction of traffic on the automobile and railway parts of the structure, occurred on Saturday morning. According to the information center of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC), a truck was blown up on the automobile part of the Crimean bridge from the side of the Taman Peninsula. It caused the fire of seven fuel tanks of a railway train heading towards the Crimea. As a result of the incident, according to preliminary information, no one was injured.

According to the head of the peninsula, Sergei Aksyonov, tourists staying in Crimea will be extended their stay at the expense of the republic in connection with the state of emergency. Aksyonov promised to announce the procedure for compensation to hotels on Monday, October 10th. He also said that as a result of the emergency, two spans of the roadbed of a branch that goes from Krasnodar to Kerch collapsed.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, the fire of the railway train with diesel fuel was extinguished, at the moment there is no open burning. 250 people and 70 pieces of equipment were involved in the extinguishing.

According to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic, in connection with the incident, the Kerch ferry crossing resumed its work. The first ferry has already started the transition for loading, three more are preparing to leave. In addition, according to Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of the peninsula, a land corridor to Crimea has been established through other regions.
