12,000 people watch execution on Instagram

A bodybuilder livestreamed the murder of his ex-wife on Instagram before killing two other people.

The murder took place in the Bosnian town of Gradacac on Friday, local media reported.

Three other people were wounded by the assailant, who has been identified as bodybuilder Nermin Sulejmanović.

The man died by suicide after he was located by police, but before he was apprehended, police in the city of Tuzla stated.

He had told his followers they would witness an execution live on Instagram.

“Look, when you’re dealing with a w***e who reports you to the police,” he tells his viewers in the chilling video, the New York Post reports.

In the clip, the woman was shown disfigured and bloodied from a beating, sitting on a chair while a child cried in the background.

“Here, watch the murder live now, nice and easy … Are you watching?” Sulejmanović said.

About 12,000 people watched the execution as it unfolded, officials said. The video, which has since been reposted on Twitter, is too graphic to publish.

Sulejmanović said he was the child’s father and accused his ex-wife of hiding the toddler from him for more than a week and that she had reported him for domestic violence.

He then grabbed a pistol from a table and shot her in the forehead.

The camera then turned to a child lying on the floor, and Sulejmanović said: “Here, someone come and save the child. Moving on.”

The bodybuilder and fitness instructor recorded two more live videos as police were pursuing him, telling his viewers he had killed two other people, later identified as a man and his young son.

As he was being pursued, Sulejmanović wounded a police officer, a man and a woman in Gradacac.

“I shot at the policeman, but he ran away. He ran away with the Skoda, I couldn’t catch him with the BMW,” he told his followers.

An emergency was declared, with citizens told to stay away from public areas after Sulejmanović warned: “I’m waiting to load my weapon before moving on.”

Nermin Nikšić, the prime minister of the Bosnian Federation, said: “I have no words to describe what happened today in Gradacac.

“The murderer took his own life in the end, but no one can bring back the lives of the victims.”

Sulejmanović, 35, was reportedly involved in gang activity and had previously been convicted for acts of violence and drug trafficking.

An investigation has been launched into the incident. Anyone who commented with supportive messages during Sulejmanović’s deadly rampage could face charges, local prosecutors warned.

Ingrid Macdonald, the United Nation’s resident co-ordinator in Bosnia, called for “immediate collective action” to stop violence against women in the nation.

“The United Nations stands horrified by the fact that the murder of a female victim was livestreamed via a social network, which is one of the latest in a streak of femicide and severe cases of gender-based violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” she said.

“We call on the authorities to resolutely commit to eradicating this heinous crime, and urge the international community, governments, civil society, and individuals to join forces to prioritise the eradication of femicide.”
