Alicia Keys ripped for tone-deaf post about paragliders after Hamas used them in deadly attack at Israeli festival – New York Post

Alicia Keys has raised eyebrows with a tone-deaf post about how she had her “eyes on paragliding” — days after Hamas terrorists used paragliders to fly into Israel in their unprecedented attack on the Jewish state.

Keys posted a photo of herself wearing a green jacket on her Instagram Monday, saying, “What would you do if u weren’t afraid of anything???

“Tell me your truth …I’ve had my eyes on paragliding…,” she added with “side-eye” emojis in the since-deleted message.

The singer was immediately slammed for her post amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, whose terrorists used paragliders to attack an Israeli musical festival where they murdered at least 260 people.

Some social media users also accused her of showing sympathy toward the terror group by wearing green, the same color as the Hamas flag.

The advocacy group StopAntisemitism ripped the Grammy winner.

“Is this some sick ode to the Hamas terrorists that infiltrated Israel, killed over 1300 people, beheaded babies, raped women, and kidnapped Holocaust survivors?” it said on X.

Author Rabbi Shmuley Boteach also criticized Keys.

“You’re thinking of paragliding into what? Into Israel and shooting and killing people?” he told Sky News. “I’m struggling to find the words because we are all in a state of shock that the world has no morality.”

Following the backlash, the singer apologized and removed the triggering post.

“The post I shared was COMPLETELY unrelated in any way to the recent devastating loss of innocent lives. My heart has been breaking …. I pray for and stand for peace,” Keys said in a statement to her Instagram Stories.

Her former manager, Israeli-American Guy Oseary, also confirmed that she had not meant any harm.

“There’s talk of an antisemitic post that my dear friend Alicia Keys had up on her Instagram,” Oseary wrote. “I can confirm to anyone in my Jewish community that needs to hear it: it’s NOT true.

Alicia Keys' message of apology
Keys deleted the post and claimed it was unrelated to the Israel-Hamas war.

“There was a specific word in her post that our community at this very painful time find very triggering, but it was absolutely not connected in any way,” he wrote. “I spoke to Alicia and she was horrified to learn what the word implied and immediately took it down.”

Oseary added: “Alicia has always been a fighter for all human rights. I’ve had a front row seat for over a decade of seeing her positive influence in the world. Her humanitarian work reflects her empathy and her heart.”
