CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The APSU Department of Music hosted its Halloween Percussion Ensemble at the Mass Communications building on Friday. Attendees experienced the talent and creativity of the APSU students and alumni as they played various songs and covers.

David Steinquest is starting a new chapter in his life as he retires from Austin Peay State University as the Professor of Percussion. He has taught at APSU since 1985 and conducts the percussion ensemble and jazz combo. “This is my favorite thing that I do every year,” said Steinquest. He spends his summers writing all the arrangements for the concerts and is always thinking about the next year before the current concert has even happened.

“This is the last Halloween concert, and I am retiring in May. I will miss the students. I love the students, and I love teaching,” said Steinquest. There is one more final Christmas concert planned, but he hopes it will be carried forward in some form.
