Blue Jays Roster Updates: Hicks active, Jackson placed on family medical emergency list

The Toronto Blue Jays newly acquired right-hander Jordan Hicks has reported to the team and will be active for the team’s series opener against the Baltimore Orioles Monday, the club announced.

Hicks was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, in a deal that sent double-A starters Sem Robberse and Adam Kloffenstein back to St. Louis.

The hard-throwing reliever averages 101 mph on his four-seamer and 100.5 on his sinker and has topped out at 105.

Toronto also announced that reliever Jay Jackson has been placed on the family emergency medical list. In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays recalled right-hander Bowden Francis, who will be active for Monday’s game.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider also told reporters that Chad Green, who is coming off Tommy John surgery, will pitch with triple-A Buffalo Wednesday.
