About Marty Stuart

Last year, Marty Stuart celebrated his 30th anniversary as a Grand Ole Opry member with a performance on the iconic stage. That appearance also marked Stuart’s 50th anniversary in Nashville.

“The Opry is a way of life,” Marty Stuart previously said. “It’s an institution that gets passed on every weekend. If you’re going to be a country performer, the Opry is the place to be.”

While the genre has seen many changes in recent years, one thing Stuart admires about the Opry is that it remains constant.

“The thing that has absolutely not changed is the Grand Ole Opry,” he pointed out. “The Mother Church of Country Music has remained and it all revolves around it.”

Marty Stuart is a five-time GRAMMY-winning artist, a platinum recording artist, a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association, a Grand Ole Opry star, a country music historian, a photographer, a musician, and a songwriter. From his beginnings as a gospel singer in his childhood, Stuart has dedicated over four decades to honoring and promoting American roots music. His teenage years were marked by touring with bluegrass legend Lester Flatt in the ’70s, followed by six years as a member of Johnny Cash’s band in the ’80s, and a successful solo career in the ’90s with chart-topping hits.

Most recently, the Country Music Association announced Marty Stuart’s induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame’s class of 2020 in the Modern Era Artist category. Additionally, Stuart is actively involved in raising awareness for The Marty Stuart Congress of Country Music (MSCCM) in Philadelphia, Mississippi, which aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of country music through live performances and educational programs.
