Dolly Parton revealed she has been offered to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show ‘many times’ but always turned it down.

The 77-year-old country star explained the reason why she chose not to perform at football’s biggest night was because she ‘didn’t think I was big enough to do that big of a production.’

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on Thursday, she said: ‘I couldn’t do it because of other things, or I just didn’t think I was big enough to do it — to do that big of a production.’

The 10-time Grammy winner — who dazzled in a Halloween-themed dress at a ribbon cutting for her fashion exhibition over the weekend — continued: ‘When you think about those shows, those are big, big productions. I’ve never done anything with that big of a production.

‘I don’t know if I could have,’ she added. ‘I think, at the time, that’s what I was thinking.’

In lieu of a halftime show, she said she would consider doing ‘a production show’ after releasing her first rock album Rockstar — which will drop later this month on November 17.

‘It would make more sense,’ she explained in regards to the halftime show — which will see Usher headlining the forthcoming Super Bowl show on February 11, 2024.

Since she will be releasing her rock ‘n’ roll album, she said she is open to the idea of doing a bigger performance.

‘That might change,’ she said. ‘I might be able to do a production show.’

While speaking to the outlet, she also revealed that she has turned down Elvis Presley before too when he wanted to record her hit song, I Will Always Love You.

She initially declined the invitation to join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame too, because she didn’t feel fit as a country music performer.

‘They’re going to put me in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and somebody like Meat Loaf or some of these other great artists never even made it? I didn’t want to take away from somebody that has spent their life in that world like I had spent mine in country [music],’ she recalled thinking at the time.

She said she finally accepted when she learned that there are a variety of other artists in the Rock Hall because of their music’s influence around the world.

‘But I still didn’t feel great about it,’ she said. ‘I still thought I needed to earn it.’

Being inducted into the hall of fame made her think about finally doing a rock ‘n’ roll album.

‘That’s why I thought, “Well, timing is perfect. There’s a real reason for me to do this rock ‘n’ roll album,’ she added. ‘Here I am a rock star at 77.’ 

Her highly-anticipated rolodex, Rockstar — which comprises of 30 rock classics and originals and many music icons as featured artists — Is set to be released on November 17. 

Some of her collaborations include: Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Sting, Joan Jett, Kid Rock, Emmylou Harris, Ringo Starr, Steven Tyler, Melissa Etheridge and more. 

On many of her rock songs, she also worked with Chris Stapleton, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, Pink, and Brandi Carlile.
