Fans identify Xabi Alonso as Jurgen Klopp’s long-term successor as Liverpool legend continues to impress
Xabi Alonso continues to earn rave reviews with his Bayer Leverkusen side top of the Bundesliga after Friday’s four-goal thriller away at Bayern Munich.
The 41-year-old’s team drew 2-2 at the Allianz Arena in an end-to-end affair where they could have nicked a victory.

It’s now ten points out of a possible 12 on offer for the Black and Reds, who remain ahead of Alonso‘s former employers Bayern on goal difference.
Having guided Bayer to a sixth-placed Bundesliga finish last term in what was his first year in management, fans have keeping close tabs on the 2010 World Cup winner.
None more so than Liverpool supporters, who fell in love with the Spaniard during his five-year Anfield spell between 2004-2009 where he helped the Reds win the Champions League.
And the club’s fans believe he is the ideal successor to Jurgen Klopp should the German depart when his contract expires in 2026.
Though the Merseyside giants’ faithful are fearful that another one of his former clubs – Real Madrid – could target him to replace Carlo Ancelotti next year.
Taking to social media, one fan posted: “Xabi Alonso is the perfect man to replace Jurgen Klopp.”

Another commented: “Xabi Alonso is the perfect replacement for Klopp, he’s destined for Real Madrid.”
A third added: “Xabi Alonso has to be Liverpool’s next manager after Klopp. His team are pressing monsters!”
This user then said: “I’d love Alonso to be Liverpool’s manager after Klopp, but I have a feeling that he’s gonna go to Real Madrid.”
Meanwhile this fan messaged: “Liverpool and Real Madrid gonna fight for Xabi Alonso to be their manager one day. Mark my words. What a guy.”
And this person simply stated: “Liverpool have to make sure Klopp’s successor is Xabi Alonso.”
Klopp has been linked with a move away from Liverpool in the past week, with it claimed he is on Germany’s radar following Hansi Flick’s dismissal.
But his agent has ruled out him leaving before the end of his deal in England.
