Fantasy football 2023 rankings, draft prep: QB, WR, RB, TE picks, cheat sheets, ADP, tiers from top NFL model

The 2023 Fantasy football rankings were shuffled when the Dolphins placed running back Jeff Wilson Jr. on injured reserve, ruling him out for at least the first four games. Wilson ranked 28th in positional Fantasy points a year ago and was a late-round pick per his 2023 Fantasy football ADP. With Raheem Mostert now the clear lead back in Miami, does he get bumped up among 2023 Fantasy football picks? He’s not on par with the likes of Christian McCaffrey or Austin Ekeler, but Mostert could now become one of the 2023 Fantasy football sleepers. Taking note of Fantasy football injuries and their ramifications could make a noticeable difference in your 2023 Fantasy football drafts.

Sorting players into Fantasy football tiers can help you make tough draft day decisions. If you’re looking for 2023 Fantasy football advice, be sure to check out the 2023 Fantasy football cheat sheets from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Last year, the model accurately predicted that 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was being dramatically overvalued. Samuel was the sixth receiver coming off the board on average, but the model had him ranked outside the top 10. The result: Samuel followed up a season in which he had 1,770 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns by producing just 864 yards and five scores.

The same model has a proven track record providing Fantasy football tips, identifying A.J. Brown as another sleeper in 2020 and nailing Jonathan Taylor’s enormous season in 2021. Additionally, it’s called past Fantasy football sleepers like Derrick Henry in 2019, Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara in 2018, and Davante Adams in 2017. Anybody who banked on players like those made a run at their league title.

The model is powered by the same people who generated projections for all three major Fantasy sites, and it beat human experts last season when there was a big difference in ranking. The 2023 Fantasy football PPR rankings and 2023 Fantasy football standard projections update multiple times daily, so you’re always getting the best Fantasy football advice and the latest Fantasy football tiers.

Top 2023 Fantasy football QB rankings

Here’s a look at SportsLine’s top three 2023 Fantasy football QB picks:

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs: He became the seventh player in NFL history to win the MVP and Super Bowl MVP in the same season after topping the league in passing yards (5,250) and touchdowns (41) last season before leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl LVII victory. Mahomes was the top scorer in Fantasy football and has finished in the top four at his position in four of the last five years. The 27-year-old quarterback proved last season he can perform at an elite level even without a stud receiver on the outside like Tyreek Hill.

2. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles: Hurts was the No. 1 Fantasy football scorer on a points-per-game basis last season and finished as the QB3 overall despite missing two starts. He rushed for 13 touchdowns last season and his leg strength makes him nearly unstoppable at the goal line and in short-yardage situations. Those 13 touchdowns were tied for second in the NFL regardless of position. Hurts had 760 rushing yards, 3,701 passing yards, and 22 touchdowns.

3. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills: Allen is the highest scorer in Fantasy football over the last three seasons and has finished no worse than QB2 over that span. He’s as consistent as you could ask for and the Bills’ offense should yet again be one of the best in the NFL. He has passed for at least 4,200 yards and 35 touchdowns the last three seasons and rushed for at least 760 yards and six scores the last two seasons. See more top QBs here.

Top 2023 Fantasy football RB rankings

Here’s a look at SportsLine’s top three 2023 Fantasy football RB picks:

1. Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers: Ekeler was the No. 1 scoring non-quarterback in Fantasy football last season and the Chargers’ offense could be even better this season. Justin Herbert’s drop in passing yards and touchdowns led to a new offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore, who was key to making Dallas one of the best offenses in the NFL. The Chargers will likely play at a faster pace, which means more opportunities for Ekeler, who led the NFL with 38 touchdowns over 33 games in the last two seasons.

2. Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers: He was one of the best players in Fantasy football for the majority of his six-year career in Carolina, which was far from an explosive offense most of those seasons. He made his 49ers debut in Week 7 last season and was the highest-scoring running back in Fantasy football from that point on in total points and points per game. San Francisco’s offensive weapons are nearly identical to last year and there’s no reason to expect McCaffrey’s usage to fall off. If he remains healthy, McCaffrey is one of the safest plays on a weekly basis.

3. Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons had efficient running back production last season and still saw Robinson as a worthy pick to make No. 8 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. That shows how special the Falcons feel he is, which should come with a huge workload. The Falcons had the second-highest run percentage (55.3%) in the NFL last season with running backs Tyler Allgeier, Cordarrelle Patterson and Caleb Huntley each averaging at least 4.8 yards per carry. Robinson had nearly 1,900 total yards, including 1,580 rushing yards, at Texas last season and should be able to be an immediate dominant force in Atlanta’s scheme. See more top RBs here.

Top 2023 Fantasy football WR rankings

Here’s a look at SportsLine’s top three 2023 Fantasy football WR picks:

1. Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings: You would think that after winning Offensive Player of the Year, Jefferson had hit his ceiling. However, there is still room for growth after a season in which he had 128 receptions for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns. Jefferson led the league in catches and yards, but didn’t even finish in the top 10 in touchdown receptions. With the potential for more scores, Jefferson is the clear-cut WR1.

2. Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals: Chase is one half of arguably the best QB-WR duo in the league alongside Joe Burrow, a connection which dates back to college. He finished with five more catches in 2022 than 2021 despite playing in five fewer games. He’s a terror with the ball in his hands and is a touchdown machine, as only Davante Adams has more touchdown receptions than Chase since he entered the league in 2021.

3. A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles: Brown may have helped Jalen Hurts’ development just as much as Hurts helped Brown reach his Fantasy ceiling. The receiver set or tied career-highs in receptions (88), yards (1,496) and touchdowns (11) in his first year in Philadelphia. The final third of last season gives a glimpse of what Brown could deliver in 2023, as he averaged 110.8 yards per game over the last six weeks of 2022, compared to 75.5 yards over the first 12 weeks. See more top WRs here.

Top 2023 Fantasy football TE rankings

1. Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs: Kelce is essentially a Fantasy football WR1 but at the tight end position. He has far and away been the top Fantasy option at his position for years, having finished No. 1 among tight ends in Fantasy scoring in six of the last seven seasons. Draft him with confidence towards the latter half of the first round in drafts.

2. Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens’ tight end has finished among the top five players at his position for four straight seasons. While a repeat of his monster 2021 season (107-1,361-9) seems doubtful, it’s not a stretch to imagine that Andrews could surpass the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the second time in his career in 2023. Draft him with confidence in the early rounds.

3. T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings: There’s a reason that Minnesota just gave Hockenson a monster four year, $68.5 million extension in late-August. In his 10 games as a Viking last season, Hockenson averaged 13.0 PPR points per game as the No. 2 option behind star receiver Justin Jefferson. He should once again see plenty of targets in a pass-first offense and is well worth a mid-round selection. See more top TEs here.
