Grace Fisher’s Winter Music Showcase Brings Arts & Inspiration to … – Noozhawk

The Grace Fisher Foundation’s 6th Annual Winter Music Showcase will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Granada Theatre.

Now in its sixth year, the showcase has become a local music tradition and celebrates music, dance and art from some of Santa Barbara’s top performers.

The event raises awareness and funds to bring the arts to people with disabilities. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online here.

This year, Grace Fisher is bringing together a diverse talent lineup, including the Santa Barbara Folk Orchestra, Jackson Gillies, Chris Fossek, and original art and music by Fisher.

“I’m honored that so many talented musicians return each year to perform in this special concert, which helps raise money to support access to the arts for all,” said Fisher.

“Music brings people and community together, and that has always been my goal for this event,” she said. “We hope to inspire and enlighten audiences, and can’t wait to share it with you.”

The program features a range of genres from modern to classical to folk and holiday favorites. Dance numbers will feature Selena Valencia from Flamenco Santa Barbara.

Access to the arts is critical as a means of self-expression and to help people cope with daily struggles. Since its inception in 2016, the Grace Fisher Foundation has worked to spread adaptive art, music, and dance to the special needs community.

About Grace Fisher

Since her senior year in high school in 2014, when Grace contracted a virus that spread to her spine, which left her paralyzed from the neck down, she has dedicated herself to finding enlightenment and inspiring others through art and music.

In the days following her diagnosis of acute flaccid myelitis, Grace was sent to Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Denver, Colorado, where she was introduced to music therapy and adaptive art. This not only helped strengthen her body but also helped heal her mind and soul.

After returning home, she was approached by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Santa Barbara. Her wish before she turned 18 was to help other children with disabilities through art and music.

This began Grace’s legacy to pay it forward and lead others to a pathway through the arts, therapeutic movement, and creativity to help bring joy to those with physical and cognitive disabilities.
