Reigning world champion Max Verstappen heads to Hungary looking to secure a staggering ninth win of the season, having already won eight out of the 10 races this season.

The Dutchman looks all but certain to win his third consecutive Drivers’ World Championship, after his win at Silverstone a fortnight ago left him 99 points clear at the top of the standings.

In second place is Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez, who has struggled in qualifying in recent weeks which has affected his races but still holds a 19 point lead over Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso in third place.

Two Brits made the podium on home soil in the last race as Lando Norris equalled his best ever race finish as he took home second place for McLaren having also started on the front row and even led the race in the opening stages.

Lewis Hamilton also bagged his fourth podium of the season, though the seven time world champion is still waiting on a first race win since the penultimate race of the 2021 season in Saudi Arabia.

The Brit has enjoyed great success previously in Hungary, winning on eight occasions at the Hungaroring, twice as many times as the next best.

Hamilton currently sits fourth in the Drivers’ Championship standings, leaving Carlos Sainz of Ferrari in fifth and the Brit’s Mercedes teammate George Russell in sixth.
