Konkani rap sensation Waking Grunt releases new love song, Zai Tujo Mog – Gomantak Times

When you hear the name Waking Grunt, you know you’re in for a song that tackles social issues or problems that affect people. But this time, the hip-hop singer, Amit Jaiwant Naik aka Waking Grunt, is surprising his listeners with a love song.

He has come up with a Konkani song — Zai Tujo Mog — that focuses on the beauty of relationships and how love finds a way even in times of hardships and difficulties.

VENTURING INTO LOVE

Waking Grunt has penned down honest lyrics that bring out the power of love with a lot of love and compassion. Naik says that love or romantic songs were never part of his style but he loved working on it. “Before this all my tracks were based on social issues and real problems that affected the society. But this is the first time, I have ventured into love,” he adds.

MUSIC THAT FEELS RIGHT

As a rapper, Naik does not want to be pigeonholed into a particular genre. He wants to explore all types of music that feels right to him.

He said that people often think he is a cold-hearted person because of the kind of songs he used to make. However, he wants to show that he is capable of expressing softer emotions, such as love.

LOVE FOR NOW

To love and be loved is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world, says Naik and using his personal life experiences he has penned down the lyrics of the song.

“My music producer Jovin Da Costa wanted me to do an Afro-Beat and wanted me to speak about couple goals and love. So, I gave it a shot,” he says.

NEED YOUR LOVE

Zai Tujo Mog embraces love and is a celebration of emotions. The music is produced by Squishy Stone.

Nehal Chari’s V-Chitra Production has conceptualised the video of the song which features Amit Naik and the female cast Anushka Chari. The equipment are provided by AIO studio.

Waking Grunt who shot to fame with tracks like The Pappu Song, The Matka Anthem‘, Bhiee….Tuka late Zalo, etc, says that being consistent is the key.

“I realised that just releasing songs wasn’t important, but being consistent was. But now I am focused and want to explore music and give my listeners a vibe of my original music,” he adds.

Naik feels that an artist needs to follow his own style rather than wanting to imitate others. He is out to create an identity of his own.

FUTURE PLANS

Interestingly, his song, American Dream, again produced by Squishy Stone, which is to be released on digital platforms on September 3, 2023, will be featured in one of Los Angeles-based movie. Also, Naik has many other projects in the pipeline.
