You’ve got two opportunities to spend time with virtuosic sitar player Ustad Shafaat Khan. Khan made made an international name for himself with Indian classical and folk music, Sufi-inspired pieces and forays into western classical, jazz, rock and pop. At noon, he’ll be interviewed by musician, musicologist and arts activist Bau Graves at Portland Public Library. Then Khan will perform in the evening at Hannaford Hall, accompanied by Tim Arnold on percussion and Anawim Avila on guitar and saxophone.

World-renowned fingerstyle guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto is performing a show and the next day is offering a guitar workshop. Born in Japan, Tsukamoto came to Boston in 2000 as a student at the Berklee College of Music. Nearly two decades later, he won second place twice at the International Guitar Championship. You’ll hear him work magic with his guitar while weaving in stories. During the 10 a.m. workshop on Saturday morning, attendees will see Tsukamoto demonstrate his techniques and talk about basic theory and how to incorporate many elements of music into your own practice routines. Workshop tickets are $35 and the class caps at 10. Can’t make the Friday night show? Grab a ticket to see him on Saturday at the Denmark Arts Center.

Satisfy your hunger to hear Grateful Dead tunes by heading to Bayside Bowl for a show from Boston area Dead tribute act DeadBeat. What’s more, the band will be joined by a pair of special guests: Grammy-nominated pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph and drummer Wally Ingram. The evening is a benefit for the nonprofit Robert Randolph Foundation. The guitarist founded it as skill development platform accessible to youth of any cultural, social or racial background.
