Mother’s Day Tribute: Celebrating the beautiful K-pop idols who are now mothers

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, it’s time to acknowledge and appreciate the incredible mothers in the world of K-pop. Although it is relatively rare for active K-pop idols to be mothers, a few have started families while maintaining their careers in the industry. While the vast majority have retired from the industry to get married and start their own families.

Check out the list of remarkable K-pop mothers below.

Sunye (formerly of Wonder Girls) – Sunye got married in 2013 and has since become a mother to three children. She left Wonder Girls in 2015 and is now pursuing a solo career.

Hyerim (formerly of Wonder Girls) – Hyerim married taekwondo athlete Shin Min Chul in 2020. Two years later, in 2022, the happy couple celebrated the birth of their son.

Soyul (formerly of Crayon Pop) – Soyul married Moon Hee Jun, a former H.O.T member, in 2017. They welcomed their first child later that year. They had their second child in 2022.

Gummi (formerly of Crayon Pop) – Gummi married a non-celebrity businessman in 2020 and gave birth to two children—a boy in 2020 and a girl in 2021.

Yulhee (formerly of LABOUM) – Yulhee married FTISLAND’s Choi Min Hwan in 2018. The idol couple welcomed a son in 2018 and twin daughters in 2020.

Sungah (formerly of 9Muses) – Sungah married DJ DaQ in 2018 and gave birth to a son in 2020.

Eunji (formerly of 9muses) – Eunji married a non-celebrity man in 2018 and gave birth to a daughter in 2020.

Hyuna (formerly of 9muses) – Moon Hyuna married her non-celebrity boyfriend in 2017 and gave birth to her first son in 2020. She had her second child in February 2023.

Kahi (formerly of After School) – Kahi tied the knot with businessman Yang Joon Moon in 2016. Later that year, the couple welcomed their first son, and in 2018, they were blessed with a second baby boy.

Jung Ah (formerly of After School) – In 2018, Jung Ah exchanged vows with professional basketball player Jung Chan Young. The following year, in 2019, the couple joyfully welcomed their first son into the world.

Areum (formerly of T-ARA) – In 2019, Areum married her non-celebrity businessman Kim Young Geo. She gave birth to a son in 2020 and had her second child in early 2023.

Park Jung Ah (formerly of Jewelry) – In 2016, Jung Ah married pro golfer Jeon Sang Woo. The couple welcomed a daughter in 2019.

Bada (S.E.S.) – In 2017, Bada married a businessman who is nine years her junior. The couple embraced the joy of parenthood when they welcomed a beautiful daughter in 2020.

Eugene (S.E.S.) – Eugene exchanged vows with her ‘Creating Destiny’ co-star Ki Tae Young in 2011. Their love blossomed into a family with the arrival of their first daughter in 2015, followed by the birth of a second daughter in 2018.

Shoo (S.E.S.) – Shoo tied the knot with basketball player Im Hyo Sung in 2010. The couple has since been blessed with three children: a son born in the same year as their marriage and twin daughters who arrived in 2013.
